Imagination was given to man to compensate him for what he is not, and a sense of humor was provided to console him for what he is. - Oscar Wilde

Animation, Art, and Other Shiny Things
Another extra day-late Friday night music video. While the snow is gone this week, I still have a fascination with Bendy animations. The style, the music, just the feel of these toons is great fun.
Animation by Flint 4K for an original song sung by SquigglyDigg and Swiblet, and written by Flint 4K and Maple. Composed by David Berube.
For this Valentine’s Day I offer up a wonderful little short film from the National Film Board of Canada about the awkwardness of a crush. It is also a timely reminder that crushes and romance happen at any age.
I love the animations that the NFB looses into the wild, and I love my own Valentine, Mrs Crow, who’s shared my nest for nigh on three decades now. And I am here to tell ya, indeed, romance is not only for the young.
Produced for the 500th anniversary of the church reformation in 2017, this short tells a big story in a charming and rather cute animation style.
From Tumblehead Studios, animated by Mette Tange.
Phil is a security nanobot and his territory has been invaded. It’s not glamorous, and it is dangerous, but Phil is just the nano to deal with it.
By the students at 3Dsense Media School in Singapore.
Perhaps due to my own certain age, I tend to particularly enjoy the shorts when an older person outwits or non-plusses the Grim Reaper. It’s not an uncommon story, there are a few laying around the crow’s nest here already, and I love ’em.
This animation is also in French – with French subtitles. I don’t know French. There is a lot of dialogue, or at least monologue – in French. Which I don’t know.
And I don’t think it matters. The story is independent of the dialogue and is a fun bit of romp.
From the folks at ESMA.
Think of this as an extra Friday night music video posted a day late. Really it’s just a bonus because I’ve been snowed in for two days and am getting stir crazy.
And I have become quite the fan of Bendy cartoon videos. Great tunes and the 3D ‘neo-retro’ animation is pretty interesting, aside from Bendy simply being a brilliant character. Unsure I’ll ever play the game that spawns and inspires the videos, I’m more of a mmorpg player, but it does look like great fun.
While there is some mild disagreements on the lyrics to this song, the brilliantly simple line animation perfectly compliments the boppy tune. Great for a Friday night music video.
Animation by Studio Film Bilder, the tune is Bla Bla Bla by Gigi D’Agostino
An old man and a mouse reconsider their living arrangements.
Another well done animation and wonderful story from the folks at ESMA.
This is a long piece, nearly 20 minutes, and well worth every moment watching it. The style and animation are geared toward younger audiences, and I think it’s a great way to pass along a Native-American legend.
While all NA tribes have Crow legends, the Rainbow Crow is from the Lenape tribe and recounts the story of the colorfully feathered Crow who’s beautiful voice filled the forest. When the winter spirit appeared and made the forest cold, the animals decided to send an emissary to ask Kijiamuh Ka’ong, the Creator Who Creates By Thinking What Will Be, to think the forest warm again.
This short stars the voices of John Legend as Crow, and Oprah Winfrey as Kijiamuh Ka’ong, as well as other well-known actors. From Baobab Studios.
